Scenario-based Digital Training that Drove Safety and Precision in Crane Gantry Transfer Operations

Our client is one of world’s largest aluminum producers

The Ask

The client sought to standardize training around gantry crane transfer operations to
ensure consistent, safe, and coordinated execution by operators and supporting
personnel. They needed to build clarity around procedures, safety protocols and team
roles, while addressing the variability in on-ground practices through structured digital
training. The machinery was different on their two sites, leading to different procedures.
Field knowledge was often passed informally—leading to inconsistent understanding
and the audience preferred clarity and simplicity over theory-heavy training.

“The client needed to deliver an experience that reflected real-world operations and challenges. NLL Academy introduced a digital learning program built around 45-minute, site-specific modules that closely mirrored real worksite conditions. This was delivered in two versions. “

Our Solutions

  • Built a simple, no-frills eLearning module focused on practical application
  • Included visual walkthroughs of crane movement steps to aid recall and clarity
  • Used scenario-based questions to reinforce safe decision-making in context
  • Structured the experience to reflect location-specific procedures and layouts
  • Content and language were simplified to suit an operational field audience

Impact

1.

Increased procedural consistency across locations

2.

Improved situational judgment in safety-critical moments

3.

Reduced reliance on informal, experience-based knowledge transfer
